I've started a new project!
I am having a yard sale in approximately seven weeks. I've started filling up an empty closet with things that I am going to sell. Then I got the idea to get rid of seven things each week for seven weeks. At the end of the seven weeks, I will have rid myself of at least 49 things! Wow, 49 things! I promised myself that whatever is already in the "yard sale closet" doesn't count. It has to be seven new things. So, that's just one thing every day that I need to purge. Not everything I am choosing will go in the sale. Some it of will be given away, trashed or recycled.
Here's a picture of my first seven things. I scoured the cabinet underneath my kitchen sink.
1. an old container of Comet - it is almost empty and and I never clean with it anyway
2. an empty spray bottle
3. Clorox disinfecting spray - the smell makes me sick so I never use that either
4. a water bottle that was a freebie where my mom works - it was for Gavin, but he can't even open it by himself.
5. a pair of shoes that hurt my feet
6. a giant map of the United States - I already have a giant map of the world taped up to one wall in my house. We don't have room for another map . . .
7. one of the kids cups - we have too many kids cups around here. They seem to multiply when I am not looking
So, will you join me in my quest to purge 49 (okay, let's just round up to 50) things? If you want to participate, leave me a comment letting me know you're on board! It will be so fun!
Hey girl! I have been on a quest over the last several months to do the same sorts of things that you have been writing about. With 6 people living in a little home, i have been determined to simplify all of our lives. I collected things from our house - i mean, i took stuff off of the walls :) and made $364 in our yard sale! :) hope yours goes well!!
ReplyDeleteHey, we're doing the same exact thing - prepping for a garage sale - and I'm putting it off for a couple more weeks so I can find MORE to get rid of. I certainly don't need all this stuff that's accumulated around here. I started with my maternity clothes, even though I'm preggo. I had stuff in the wrong sizes, for the wrong season, "just in case" but out it goes - hopefully it will add to our savings account. Next - the kids' bins!! And the laundry basket of misc. crud in my bedroom. (blush, blush - too lazy to put it away!!)
